UK Aid Direct

UK Aid Direct supports small and medium sized civil society organisations, based in the UK and overseas, to achieve sustained poverty reduction and to achieve the SDGs.


The latest UK Aid Direct funding round (Round 4) will open for applications on 4 March 2019 with a deadline of Wednesday 17 April. Please visit the UK Aid Direct website for further information.

The Small Charities Challenge Fund is part of UK Aid Direct and is open for applications on a continuous basis.

UK Aid Direct is DFID’s main centrally managed funding mechanism for small and medium sized civil society organsiations, based in the UK and overseas, who are working to achieve the global goals.

Formerly known as the Global Poverty Action Fund (GPAF), the fund was relaunched in 2014 as UK Aid Direct. Since 2010, 207 grants have been awarded across 36 countries.

From 4 January 2016 the Fund Manager for UK Aid Direct has been MannionDaniels, working in consortium with Oxford Policy Management (OPM), Education Development Trust, Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC) and Royal Tropical Institute (KIT).
